All prices are quoted and payable in Euro. A non-refundable deposit of €350 is required to reserve a spot in the Workation. This deposit must be paid at the time of booking.
The remaining balance must be paid no later than 30 days before the start of the Workation. If you prefer to use a payment plan, please let us know so we can set that up.
We use Stripe to process our payments: Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, JCB, CUP, iDEAL and Google Pay are all accepted.
We understand that unexpected events can arise that can affect your plans. Cancellations made more than 30 days before the start of the Workation will receive a refund of any payments made, minus the non-refundable deposit of €350.
Please do let us know as soon as possible if you wish to cancel, so we can put our efforts into finding someone else to fill your spot. We’re not a large company, so cancellations do affect us a lot.
This workation focuses on digital nomads and remote workers that are looking to get productive together and connect in nature. Nationalities from all over the world are most welcome, as are various backgrounds, jobs and industries!
Some of these people have been working remotely and traveling for a longer time already and might be looking for a place to ground for a bit and connect. Others might be trying this concept for the first time and looking for some guidance and inspiration.
Our aim is to share perspectives, get inspired and enjoy together. What we all have in common is that we wish to work from paradise and enjoy our time off. We value a focus on getting to know each other and growing your (professional) network, but there’s also plenty of room during the workation to plan your own adventures or schedule some alone time.
The Internet speed in Panama might not be as fast as what you’re used to at home or at the office. That’s why we’ll have multiple networks installed in our onsite cowork space, plus Starlink for a smooth and professional experience.
After working in Playa Venao for multiple months, we can state that the connection is more than sufficient to be on video meeting calls and get work tasks done.
It’s advisable to get a local sim card as well if you always want to be connected when not at the cowork space. We can help you arrange this, unlimited data will cost you no more than € 5 per week and provides high quality Internet.
We’ll be surrounded by nature, staying at a beautiful eco lodge that minimizes its impact on the environment.
🌿 The eco lodge is set within a 140 hectare reforestation project where they have been planting many trees such as tropical hardwoods, exotics and many fruit bearing species.
🌿 Everything that can be recycled is collected and reused, including: organic waste, glass, metal, plastic and paper.
🌿 Cabins and ranches are made with 100% organic materials and exclusively wood from plantations were used in their construction, not natural forests.
🌿 The beachfront cabanas were built following the philosophy of ecological accommodation with low impact on their construction and design. They used recycled wood and built them on removable piles, leaving no impact on the ground.
🌿 The river cabanas were built exclusively with the wood of the trees that were knocked down by severe storms in 2018 and collected in the reforestation project. They are also built on lightweight structures, avoiding the use of large amounts of cement.
🌿 They carefully measure the water consumption and have installed systems to save water throughout the eco lodge.
🌿 There is also a permaculture project onsite and the lodge does not depend on batteries by using a network of connected solar panel systems.
Power cuts aren’t uncommon in Playa Venao and are outside our control: however, there is a generator onsite that will allow us to keep working during a cut. The generator might take a few minutes to kick in; if you’re on a video call, you might want to switch to a local hotspot temporarily. We can assist with that.
There are 2 plug types in Panama: type A & B. Plug type A is the plug which has two flat parallel pins and plug type B is the same with two flat parallel pins, plus a grounding pin (like the United States). The standard voltage is 110 V at a frequency of 60 Hz.
To charge your devices, you might need to bring an international travel adapter so please make sure to check beforehand!
Yes, it’s important that you have a job or business that allows you to work remotely from Panama (or at least temporarily during your participation in the workation program).
It’s up to you however how much time you choose to spend on work hours or leisure (there’s sufficient space for either in the program!). Perhaps you’d like to take this time to get clear on your focus and new (professional) goals. This workation is not a job matching event and we can’t provide you with (remote) work. It's not a work exchange or volunteering program.
You don’t have to be an experienced or aspiring digital nomad to join the workation! If you are: we’re very happy to welcome you. If you’re not: don’t worry, as long as you can work remotely and come with an open mind, you'll have an amazing experience!
Playa Venao is located in one of the driest areas of tropical Panama. Temperatures are warm year round and there are only 2 seasons: dry season and green season. Our workation takes place during the green season, which is when rainfall brings the lush greenery fully to life. This doesn't mean it rains non-stop and you can still get lots of sunny days! It's a beautiful time to visit and generally less busy with other tourists.
Make sure to double check your passport (minimum 6 months valid after entry), whether you need a visa and travel vaccinations. Of course you should pack your remote work set up, such as a laptop, chargers and possibly an international travel adapter.
There’s a small pharmacy in Playa Venao and the nearest hospital / larger pharmacy is 30 minutes by car: therefore you might want to bring sufficient prescribed medicines with you.
Most items can be bought in Panama. It’s always good to bring sun protection, as the UV is intense this close to the equator! Also pack bathing suits, comfy clothing for warm temperatures, sports wear, flip flops and closed shoes that can get a bit dirty during outdoor walks. You might want to bring a light rain jacket and maybe 1 sweater if you get cold easily. You can bring your own bug/mosquito spray, but eco-friendly, locally produced alternatives are being sold sold on the beach as well.
There are so many fun activities to try outside your working hours! Make sure to check the page ‘About Playa Venao’, but this list gives you some ideas:
Some of our favorite places in Panama that have a good enough connection for work are Boquete, Santa Catalina and Bocas del Toro. If you like hiking, go to El Valle de Antón and kitesurfers should check out Punta Chame.
We’re happy to discuss all the details and possible travel routes for Panama with you, so you can make the most of your time!
Yes, we are only organizing the Panama Workation from 7-28 November, so even more reason for you to join us there!
If you can't join us during that time, you might want to keep an eye out on our Instagram page for possible future experiences.
